Tunisia fires coach one game into World Cup after loss

The World Cup has its first knockout.

Tunisia fired coach Sabri Lamouchi after its 5-1 loss to Sweden in its tournament opener on Sunday, the federation announced Monday.

The Athletic‘s Nnamdi Onyeagwara was first to report the story.

Lamouchi becomes the first coach ever fired one game into the World Cup, per The Athletic.

The 54-year-old Frenchman had just five matches at the helm, coming away with one win, three losses and a draw after being hired in January.

Mondher Kebaier will serve as coach on an interim basis.

The North African side returns to action Sunday against Japan.
