“My skin never felt so clean and looked so radiant” – Shark’s New FacialPro Glow review tested with pictures

I’m so not fussy when it comes to a 10 step skincare routine. I like to keep it minimal where possible and when I’m not testing for our awards, I stick to a simple routine of cleanse, vitamin C and spf in the morning and double cleanse, vitamin A and night cream at night. But where I do fuss is with my skin tech and treatments. I adore using my LED mask multiple times a week and I love my in-salon microneedling and being prodded and poked with devices that smooth and clean and tighten my skin. So when the Shark FacialPRO + Depuffi landed on my desk I was SO locked in.

What is the Shark FacialPro Glow?

This is a brand new at-home facial tool from Shark Beauty that launches on the 1st of October with the rrp of £299.99. It’s the brand’s second foray into skin, with the wildly successful Shark CryoGlow LED Mask making waves last year and it remains a firm favourite beauty tool for me and many other Beauty Editors.

The FacialPro Glow + Depuffi aims to create in-salon skin treatment results at home. The brand calls it ‘Shark’s first exfoliation and hydration tool with contrast therapy for spa-level glow and sculpting’ and say that it’s ‘clinically proven to deliver cleaner pores and hydrated, glowing skin.’ To do this it has a dual-pump system and multiple removal hydra-abrasion tips to suck and buff away dull dead skin cells.

Everyone’s clicking on…

In the box, alongside the device, you get two specialist products; Derm Detox and Hydro Infuse, dermatologist-tested formulas which are vegan, cruelty-free and developed in a Korean lab. Swish! The FacialPro Glow attachment can then be removed and switched for the Depuffi attachment which gives instant hot and cold contrast therapy to contour like a gua sha tool, helping to increase circulation and assist product absorption.

The redness immediately after using the device

This is the most satisfying facial device I have ever used at home. If you have ever had the pleasure of an in-salon Hydrafacial, you know the gunk tank reveal at the end of your appointment is horrifying but equally very cool to see how filthy your skin is even when you double-cleanse every day.

This device will be for you if you like a weekly ritual as it’s not a quick tool to use – you aren’t just washing your face and popping it on like an LED mask. You’re prepping your skin, filling the tank, using the tool (which is 5 steps) and then if you choose to, you’re finishing off with the Depuffi attachment. But I promise you, it’s so, so worth it.

Despite the time it takes, it’s super easy to use. You can fill the water tank with regular tap water (I asked the team and because the device works with cold water there is no issue with limescale to worry about). Then you pick your hydra-abrasion tip. There are four tips in the box, two wide sizes and two narrower sizes for around fiddly areas like your nose.

I started with the wider tool and used the middle power setting (there are three) starting from the centre of my face and working out. You have to apply the Derm Detox solution to your face at least three minutes beforehand to make the device its most effective. It’s a pretty punchy AHA+ BHA gel, so if you have very sensitive skin, I would say this would be too strong for you. I would avoid applying this and just warm up your skin before you go in with the device – you could even use the Depuffi attachment on heat mode to do this. The sensation of the device is unlike anything I’ve felt before – on my face at least – it’s like a small, wet sucking sensation that’s as satisfying as it is weird.

If you ever used a cleansing brush in the hope that it would buff your skin clean and shiny, this is everything that you wanted that to do without harming or hurting your skin.

It’s not at all messy as the water barely touches your face before it’s sucked back into the device; each time I’ve used I’ve been watching Real Housewives in my living room and I haven’t had to clean anything up.

When I was done with the exfoliating part, I then added the Hydro Infuse into the water tank and went back over my skin with the tool. I’m not gonna lie, my skin was SO red after these steps – and I have Black skin so I can only imagine if I had lighter skin, how bright red I would have looked. While the solution tingled, I do want to stress it didn’t hurt and it shouldn’t hurt you, just a little tingle as it nibbles away at your dull, dead skin. To calm the look of my skin after, I used the Depuffi attachment (which will be available to buy separately later this year!) on the coldest setting and cooled my skin as I swept it across my face mimicking lymphatic drainage massages that I’ve had in the past. I apply my fave barrier repair cream as my night cream and then hit the sack.

My skin, foundation free!

While the brand say that your skin may purge a week after first use, I didn’t find this – I just saw glow the next few days (like you needed sunglasses to look at me), but it’s definitely something to bare in mind.

My skin has never felt so clean and looked so radiant from an at-home device, and I love that I can achieve these results in the comfort of my own home as winter sets in. The combo of using this once a week, an LED mask twice a week and my microcurrent/EMS tool as and when I need a lift, is like the Holy Trinity of skin tech for me. Yes, at £299.99 it’s a real investment that is not to be sniffed at. But if you do like to book in for a monthly facial this could totally supplement those and cut your spend by hundreds of pounds every year.
