Brendan Sorsby officially applies for the supplemental draft

It’s official.

Via Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, quarterback Brendan Sorsby has officially applied for the NFL’s supplemental draft.

News of Sorsby’s plan to abandon his lawsuit against the NCAA and enter the NFL’s supplemental draft emerged on Monday. With the case dismissed, Sorsby is now ineligible to play college football in 2026. Which means that he’s eligible to enter the NFL, through the supplemental draft.

The next question is whether the NFL will allow Sorsby into the supplemental draft. To date, there’s no indication that the NFL will slam the door.

Once Sorsby is declared eligible for the supplemental draft — and once he’s drafted — the question becomes whether the NFL will attempt to impose a suspension. As explained earlier in the day, the Kayshon Boutte precedent points to the league taking no action against Sorsby.

However it goes, Sorsby has now commenced the process of entering the NFL as of the 2026 season.

The supplemental draft will happen in July. A specific date has not yet been set for it.
