What a century from Ishan Kishan. Off just 71 balls. He started slowly but after reaching his fifty off 52 balls, he upped the ante. The next fifty came off just 19 deliveries. Gill also got his century at the other end earlier but his off 77 balls could have been quicker. Not a pretty sight when a batsman slows down without any apparent reason.
After the 50-run stand both batsmen, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, have upped the ante. At this rate, India are on course for a big score here at the Ekana Stadium. in Lucknow The average score here is 237 across 9 ODIs but the Indian batters have batted brilliantly so far. Gill is racing to his century, while Kishan to his 50.

He took the catch on second attempt. Major disappointment. Shubman Gill brings himself down to No.3 to accommodate Jaiswal but he disappoints.
Afghanistan have won the toss and decided to have a bowl at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. They have made three changes. Nabi and Azmat are not playing. , Zia not playing either. Bilal and Rasooli are going to make their debuts. India made three changes too: Kuldeep, Jaiswal and Prince are in. Prince makes his debut today. Meanwhile, the BCCI has provided an update on the Nitish Kumar Reddy injury. “Mr Nitish Kumar Reddy was unavailable for selection for the second ODI due to a sore left thigh. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress.” the governing body said.
Shubman Gill’s India will aim to seal the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan when the two teams square off in the second ODI on Wednesday in Lucknow. The hosts gained a 1-0 lead after a commanding seven-wicket victory in the rain-shortened opening match at Dharamsala. However, all the focus in the game at Lucknow would be on Rohit Sharma, who got run out in the opening ODI after a bad mix-up with skipper Gill. The first ODI saw Gill leading from the front with an unbeaten 84, while debutants Harsh Dubey and Gurnoor Brar also made immediate impacts with the ball.
Afghanistan, however, will take confidence from the explosive batting of Rahmanullah Gurbaz. The wicketkeeper-batter smashed a breathtaking 48-ball century in Dharamsala, the fastest ODI hundred by an Afghan batter, single-handedly keeping his side in the contest.
Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium traditionally assists bowlers, particularly spinners, with ODI first-innings scores generally lower than at many other Indian venues. That could bring India’s spin options and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan firmly into the spotlight.
For India, the focus will be on continuing to build combinations ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. Youngsters such as Harsh Dubey, Gurnoor Brar and Nitish Kumar Reddy have so far seized their opportunities. However, the attention is firmly on Rohit, who had a below-par IPL 2026 with the Mumbai Indians.
