Olivia Wilde has broken her silence on her age-gap relationship with ex Harry Styles, admitting “it really upset people”.
The American actress, 42, and former One Direction star, 32, dated from late 2020 to November 2022, though their romance was highly scrutinised. In an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Wilde spoke on the backlash she faced, saying people were “f—ing pissed”.

“Oh man. I don’t know, it really did upset people though,” Wilde told podcast host Alex Cooper.
“We’ve done this to women for a long time, why is it? People were f—ing pissed.”
Wilde suggested some of the backlash they faced could have been because of the “parasocial” relationship fans have with former boybander Styles.
She described the one-sided deeply emotional bonds fans have with Style as “a burden that is very weighty and not something I envy.”
“He carries it with grace, I think that’s an enormous responsibility that all of those stars have to carry and it’s f—ing impossible.”
Despite the chaos and criticism that surrounded their romance, Wilde reflected on the romance fondly describing it as “very domestic”.
“It’s wild because we had the loveliest relationship, so, so sweet and so beautiful and really actually very domestic and kind and lovely,” she said.
“We existed in this little bubble and the judgement never really got into that bubble which is a miracle and a testament to us making that happen.

The pair are reported to have met on set of their 2022 film, Don’t Worry Darling, which Wilde directed and starred in alongside Styles and Florence Pugh.
They were first linked when they were spotted attending a wedding together and holding hands in 2021.

Before that, she was with actor and fiancé Jason Sudeikis, 50, who she shares children Otis, 12, and Daisy, nine, with.
She and Sign of the Times singer are believed to have split around November 2022.
