NWS confirms preliminary EF1 tornado in Jefferson, Scott counties in Indiana after overnight storms | Local News

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The National Weather Service confirmed Thursday afternoon that a preliminary EF1 tornado hit Scott and Jefferson counties in Indiana during overnight storms.
The NWS said the tornado saw peak winds of 110 mph.
Strong storms swept across Kentuckiana overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning, bringing damaging winds, heavy rain and reports of tornadoes in several communities.
The severe weather moved through the region late Wednesday into early Thursday. At least two radar-confirmed tornadoes hit parts of southern Indiana.
One of the hardest-hit areas was Jackson County, Indiana, where reports of tornado damage emerged after storms moved through overnight.

The National Weather Service issued several watches and warnings across portions of Kentucky and Indiana, including threats of possible tornados, damaging winds with gusts up to 75 mph, and isolated hail.
