Ipswich Town transfer rumour: Blues open talks with La Liga club for Cameroon striker

It comes after reports from Spain earlier today that the 22-year-old is one of the Blues’ main targets for the summer transfer window, and that enquiries had been made to understand the financial conditions of a potential deal.

Cadena SER have claimed that Etta Eyong has a €30m (around £26m) release clause, which rises to €40m (around £34.7m) for Premier League clubs.

This evening, transfer expert Ben Jacobs has revealed that Levante want between £25m and £30m, and that club-to-club contact is now underway to bring the eigh-cap Cameroon international to Portman Road.

Everton are also said to have enquired, with the 22-year-old prioritising a Premier League move.

He joined Levante from fellow La Liga outfit Villarreal last summer, notching seven goals and four assists in 33 games (18 starts) in the Spanish top flight last summer.

The likes of FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea have been linked with Etta Eyong in the past. He turned down a move to CSKA Moscow in January.
