Alvarez’s future in Madrid has already been the subject of much speculation this summer, and it is now being reported that Atletico have reached an agreement to sell the 26-year-old to the newly crowned Premier League champions.According to Jota Jordi, a collaborator with El Chiringuito, it involves a deal structured around €50 million in cash plus the inclusion of Sweden forward Gyokeres.
The claim directly contradicts Atletico’s long-standing public position that he is not for sale, but the timing of the report is notable.
Earlier this month, Atletico chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin reportedly reassured Barcelona president Joan Laporta that Alvarez would not be leaving, reiterating a stance the club have maintained throughout the current transfer window.
In his report, Jordi insists the situation has now shifted, stating that Atletico have a closed agreement to sell Alvarez to Arsenal and challenging the club to deny the report.
Gyokeres only joined The Gunners from Sporting CP less than a year ago for a fee of around €70m including add-ons.
The Swede has since contributed 21 goals under Mikel Arteta, but while the focus of both players will currently be on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, news of a possible swap deal could spark the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid into action.
Earlier this summer, it was reported that Real had a €150m bid for Alvarez rejected.
Martinez in talks to join Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr
Portugal manager Roberto Martinez is in talks over a potential move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, according to French outlet RMC Sport.Martinez’s future has come under renewed scrutiny following Portugal’s 1-1 draw with DR Congo in their World Cup opener on Wednesday.
With his contract due to expire after the tournament, his tenure in charge could be approaching its conclusion, and reports suggest a new role may already be taking shape.
According to RMC Sport, discussions between Martinez and Al-Nassr began prior to the World Cup and remain ongoing.
The Saudi club, famously home to Cristiano Ronaldo, continue to attract global attention as they build a high-profile squad in the league.Ronaldo, now 40, played the full 90 minutes in Portugal’s opening match against DR Congo, a result that leaves Martínez’s side third in Group K.
Colombia currently top the group following their win over Uzbekistan later in the day, adding further pressure to Portugal’s campaign as the tournament progresses.
Ronaldo extended his barren run to 10 consecutive matches in major international tournaments without a goal, a run spanning 33 shots and 11 efforts on target, but Martinez defended his talisman telling reporters: “It makes no sense to get the best goalscorer in world football out in a game that you need goals.
“For us in moments like this, the experience of Cristiano in the box is important. The way that he attracts defenders is important, the way that we can use the space is important.
“Every player has a responsibility or a piece of quality on the pitch. Clearly when you look for goals, you need to have Cristiano.”

Fernandez agrees to join Madrid
Enzo Fernandez has long been on Real Madrid’s radar, with the club now reportedly stepping up their interest by reaching an agreement in principle with the Chelsea midfielder.
According to Sport’s transfer expert Nicolo Schira, Real and the player have already reached an agreement over personal terms that would keep him at the Bernabeu until 2032.
The next step would be to negotiate with Chelsea, who regard Fernandez as a key figure in their squad.
The 25-year-old joined the London club from Benfica in January 2023 for €121m, making him one of the most expensive signings in football history.
Real’s pursuit comes amid broader squad planning, with the club reportedly also weighing potential departures from the current midfield group, including Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde, in order to balance finances and make room for new arrivals.
As ever, the key obstacle remains Chelsea’s willingness to negotiate, with Fernandez still considered central to their long-term project despite ongoing speculation over his future.
The development comes after Marc Cucurella completed his move to Madrid from Chelsea with the Spain international becoming the first signing of Jose Mourinho’s second period in charge.Add TNT Sports as a preferred source here to enjoy more content like this.Watch and stream the Premier League, men’s and women’s FA Cups, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Conference League and more live on TNT Sports and HBO Max.
