Who is Johan Manzambi, Switzerland’s goal scorer against Bosnia during FIFA World Cup 2026?

Johan Manzambi scored for Switzerland during its Group B match at the FIFA World Cup 2026 against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Los Angeles on Thursday.

The 20-year-old is the youngest member of the Switzerland squad and became the youngest goal scorer since 1950 for the country at the World Cup.

He came on as a substitute for Dan Ndoye in the 72nd minute and found the net less than two minutes later. This was his third senior team goal for the Suiss side. He added another goal to his haul in the 90th minute to make the score 3-0 in favour of Switzerland.

Manzambi plays for German side Freiburg, for which he has scored nine goals in 58 appearances since 2024. He came up through the ranks with the Bundesliga side, playing for its second team and the Under-19 side.

He had a breakout season in 2025/26 where he scored seven goals and set up another six in 47 games.
