FLORENCE, Ky. (WXIX) – Parts of the Tri-State were hit hard as tornado-warned storms moved through early Thursday.
There are multiple reports of damage in northern Kentucky, according to county dispatchers and the National Weather Service in Wilmington.
The Florence area in particular is waking up to damage on Mall Road and Dream Street, including at the Red Lobster restaurant, Costco and Dave & Buster’s.
The roof is ripped off at Big Red Appliances on Dream Street.

A huge power pole is down on Industrial Road in Florence, with power out in the area, including the Joseph Cadillac dealership, a resident reports to FOX19 NOW.
A large tree is also down on Merravay Drive.
Power remains out in the Mall Road area, “resulting in an overflow event at the Florence Y’ALL water tower,” according to Florence City Clerk Melissa Kramer.
Greater Cincinnati Water Works was actively filling the tower, but when the power went out, the tower’s pumps were unable to move the water through the system, leading to the overflow, she explained.
Water is still discharging as normal from the tower as expected, indicating the system is functioning as designed to prevent damage, Kramer said.
“Greater Cincinnati has implemented operational adjustments to pump around the tower, and there is no impact to water service or supply for customers,” she reports.
An electrician inspected all pumps and related equipment for potential water damage, but none was found, she said.
“Minor repairs are underway, including the replacement of select components within an electrical panel. Once electrical service is restored and repairs are complete, the Florence Y’ALL water tower will resume normal operation.”
