The pace of rumors concerning Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s pending wedding exploded this week, helped in large part by a big-city mayor with loose lips.

The hubbub gives credence to the loudest — and most on-target? — speculation, that the wedding would take place on July 3. Tick-tock.

The growing consensus has been that some of the festivities will take place inside the cavernous Madison Square Garden, home of the NBA’s newly minted champions, the New York Knicks.

But then a wedding-related name popped up for the first time this week amidst the speculation: L.A.-based celebrity wedding planner Mark Seed. If rumors are true, Seed is about to stage likely the most high-profile wedding of his career. (No offense, Jennifer Lawrence.)

Page Six reported the couple has been working with Seed “for months” on a production rumored to be on the scale of her Eras Tour.

Thanks to a Kansas City tailor, we know at least this much about the highly guarded guest list: Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is invited. And Reid will be dapper in a custom tuxedo by Peters Clothiers of Kansas City.

The upscale men’s clothing store on State Line Road posted photos last week of Reid, Chiefs general manager Brett Veach and head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder “getting ready for the Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift Wedding!”

Here’s a recap of this week’s frantic pace.

On Monday, Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, hosted a live performance of their “New Heights” podcast at The Orpheum Theatre in L.A. The show celebrated the FIFA World Cup. Los Angeles, like KC, is a host site.

Will Ferrell, two-time women’s World Cup winner Alex Morgan and NFL defensive end Myles Garrett, a newly minted L.A. Ram, appeared. Donna Kelce was there, too, earning applause as she walked through the crowd.

Swift showed up in a video clip at the end of the show that circled back to earlier discussion about Kelce’s picky eating proclivities. Swift was shown spoon-feeding him, tongue in cheek, like a fussy baby in a restaurant.

Also on Monday, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani seemed to confirm that at least part of the couple’s wedding festivities will take place in New York over Fourth of July weekend.

He blabbed at a news conference when asked about the July 5 World Cup match at MetLife Stadium.

“I am fully confident in the work of the NYPD, as well as our state partners, in delivering that safe experience,” Mamdani said, according to Page Six. “We are the biggest city in the country. We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one. We know it coincides with the Knicks’ (NBA) Finals run.

“We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding — all happening at the same time — and we are so excited to welcome the world here.”

On Wednesday, a TikTok user posted a video showing a woman who, from afar, resembled Swift standing on a balcony of her $17 million seaside home in Rhode Island. Three women wearing black stood with her.

That touched off speculation that perhaps a bachelorette party or some kind of pre-wedding celebration was afoot. The video has since disappeared.

TMZ fueled the excitement by obtaining another video that appeared to show Swift’s longtime friend, Abigail Anderson Berard, holding a young child on one of the balconies. Berard gave birth to a son in August 2024.

Of course, representatives for both Swift and Kelce had nothing to say to Page Six when contacted for comment.

Berard is Swift’s long-ago connection to the University of Kansas. In 2009 Swift made a surprise visit to the KU campus to visit her bestie, then a freshman from Tennessee on the university’s swim team. Since then, Swift speaks affectionately of KU and Lawrence.

TMZ and other outlets reported that security was out en force this week on the Rhode Island property. The stepped-up presence included an armed guard at the entrance.

Also on Wednesday, paparazzi snapped photos of Kelce, his brother and assorted male friends entering a members-only restaurant and social club called Birds Streets Club on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood.

After the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March, Swift, Kelce, Justin Bieber and singers Sombr and The Kid LAROI attended a private dinner at the club. Also in March, Swift and Kelce were seen there with Disney CEO Bob Iger and his wife — perhaps some “Toy Story 5” planning?

Page Six speculated the Wednesday gathering was Travis Kelce’s bachelor party. He was seen walking in alone through a back door before 9 p.m.

Kelce’s former Kansas City Chiefs roommate Ross Travis and comedian Druski were seen arriving later.

According to Page Six, the Kelce brothers were the last to leave, at around 12:30 a.m.

And then, on Friday, TMZ posted what appeared to be a juicy serving of clickbait: images of a festive white party tent on the property of the Ocean House, a seaside resort just up the road from Swift’s home in Westerly, Rhode Island.

For a wedding, TMZ teased.

Swift’s fans were quick to point out that rumor has been debunked.

“This weekend, Elizabeth Hall, a 15-year wedding planning veteran and the proprietor of Elizabeth Hall Events for nine years, is putting on a wedding at the Ocean House resort in Rhode Island,” CNN reported on Friday.

“Unfortunately, a lot of people seem to think it’s Taylor Swift’s wedding.”

Swift is not getting married there this weekend, Hall told CNN.

“We do have a wonderful couple getting married there, and they’re very excited, but it is not Taylor and Travis’s wedding,” she said.

In April, Westerly town manager Shawn Lacey told the city council no wedding was taking place in June. “We have no knowledge of a wedding taking place in June,” Lacey told councilor Rose Van Dover, the Westerly Sun wrote. “If there was one taking place in June, we would certainly have knowledge of it by now.”

But … Lacey didn’t slam the door shut, because he said if it was a small wedding, then he wouldn’t necessarily know about it. But he had checked with the authorities in Rhode Island since Swift’s mansion is nearby.

“I’ve been in touch with the state on this,” Lacey said, per the Sun. “We’ve coordinated with outside agencies, in the event that it was to happen, but there’s nothing that we know of. And seeing that it is now eight weeks away, I can’t imagine someone’s throwing a wedding together in eight weeks.”
