The first day of summer will not feel like it

The last day of spring ended up being mostly dry with the sun out, some clouds and most of the rain stayed up north closer to Watertown and Northern New York.

We had an official afternoon high of 74 degrees at the Syracuse airport that we were forecasting both Friday evening and earlier Saturday morning.

Our focus now is for Father’s Day Sunday and the official start to summer that begins at 4:24 a.m. Sunday with mostly quiet, mostly dry and mostly comfortable temperatures

Here’s a look at the next 24 hours:

The current setup in the atmosphere is a few areas of low pressure both northeast and northwest of central New York with some troughs of cold air up high in the atmosphere.

These troughs(yellow-dashed lines) represent focus for lift in the atmosphere that can trigger a few showers and downpours that you can see on across Michigan heading towards us.

In case you have plans to go out with your dad, grandfather or you yourself are a dad and heading out to your favorite lake with the boat on Sunday, here’s my boating forecast:

LAKE ONTARIO BOATING SUNDAY

ONEIDA LAKE BOATING SUNDAY

FINGER LAKES BOATING SUNDAY

If you are wondering when it looks best to cut the grass over the next few days, the only day to pass on it would be Monday with a decent amount of rain coming through.

MOW OR NO FORECAST NEXT FEW DAYS

Let’s time out the temperatures for Sunday and rain for Monday:

Temperatures as we end spring and start the summer season will not be feeling summer at all.

Look at these temperatures across the country from Saturday afternoon:

5 PM SATURDAY OBSERVED TEMPERATURES

The real hot and humid weather will not be coming back to CNY until later in the upcoming week.

Along with the heat and stickiness returning next week will be the chances for rain, thunderstorms and even a few strong or severe storms possible.

For now we are looking like a couple nice days on Tuesday, Wednesday and the start of Thursday.
