The City of Gatineau is asking about 45,000 residents in the Gatineau sector to boil their water for one minute before consuming it.
In a news release Friday night, the city said it issued the advisory after a water main broke on rue Saint-Louis.
The city said it’s possible residents might see a drop in pressure or a yellowish discolouration of their water.
Once the boil-water advisory is lifted, the city said residents will have to open all cold-water taps and let the water run for a minute.
On Sunday, the city also asked residents in the Gatineau, Hull and Aylmer sectors to reduce their water consumption, especially during peak hours in the morning and evening.
Rue Saint-Louis remained closed Sunday between boulevard de la Cité and boulevard Maloney for repairs, the city said.
A detour is also in place via boulevard de la Cité and boulevard Maloney.
