PROVO – BYU football completed its busiest on-campus recruiting weekend, and it’s already leading to an impact on the 2027 recruiting class.
The Cougars hosted many recruits on official visits that stretched into Father’s Day. Since the official visits wrapped up, three of those recruits saw enough and committed to BYU.
Official visits produce instant commitments for BYU football
Those three recruits include San Clemente, California safety Jaxson Rex, kicker/punter James Thorley out of Burke, Virginia, and Kamoni Adams, a cornerback from Marietta, Georgia.
DB Jaxson Rex picks BYU over UCLA
Rex is the nephew of former BYU All-American tight end Byron Rex and cousin to current BYU running back Preston Rex.

Jaxson Rex picked BYU over the hometown UCLA Bruins. He’s a versatile athlete who plays on both sides of the ball in his prep career.
Specialist from the East Coast
James Thorley is rated a five-star specialist by Kohl’s Specialist camps. He picked BYU over an offer from Colgate. Thorley has trained with the Hammer Kicker Academy, the same group that has also worked with returned missionary kicker Brody Laga.

From the A to the Y: Kamoni Adams commits to BYU
Rounding out the trio of commits fresh out of the official visit weekend is Kamoni Adams.
Along with being the third commit after the official visits, he’s also the third cornerback to give a verbal commitment to BYU in the 2027 cycle. Throughout his official visit, he posted images with fellow cornerback commit Ryan Wooten, who is out of New Jersey.

Adams is the 76th-ranked cornerback nationally in the 247Sports Composite for the 2027 cycle. He picked BYU weeks after taking an official visit to Maryland. Adams reported offers from ACC, Big 12, and SEC programs.
The 6-foot-0, 170-pound athlete has been clocked at a 10.7 100-meter dash in track and field during his prep career.
Shortly after Adams’ commitment announcement, current BYU starting cornerback and Georgia native Therrian Alexander III posted fire emojis on X.

BYU is now up to nine commitments in the class of 2027 and has the 76th-ranked class by the 247Sports Composite.
