Former Baltimore Ravens tackle Arthur Jones dead at 39

The Baltimore Ravens announced the death of defensive tackle Arthur Jones on Friday.

He was 39.

The team called his death “sudden.”

“Arthur’s presence was a gift to everyone he encountered,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said in a statement. “His big, bright smile, infectious energy and eternal positivity created a presence that continuously uplifted others. He was kind, courteous and enthusiastic — always displaying a love for family, teammates and friends.”

The brother of Ultimate Fighting Championship legend Jon “Bones” Jones and All-Pro defensive end Chandler Jones, Jones appeared in 64 NFL games over seven seasons with the Ravens, Colts and Washington.

A native of Rochester, NY, Jones was selected in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Syracuse.

He would go on to record 173 tackles, two forced fumbles and 10.0 sacks over his career.

Jones was a member of the Ravens team that won Super Bowl XLVII, recording two tackles and a sack in the 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
