Blue Lights season 3 cast: Meet the returning and new characters plus the actors who play them

After a year and a half away Blue Lights is returning to our TV screens tonight, as we see Grace, Annie and Tommy continue their jobs behind the blue lights as response officers.

The BBC series kicks off tonight at 9pm with the first episode that sees the force deal with the arrest of a young drug dealer, that begins to expose a vast network and criminal conspiracy taking over Belfast.

The new season will not only reunite us with all our favourite characters, but also introduce some new faces to the series. Here’s everything to know about the cast, new and returning of Blue Lights season three, and where you recognise them from.

Siân Brooke as Grace Ellis

Who is Grace Ellis?: Grace is one of the police officers we first met back in season one. She used to be a social worker who has now moved over to work in the police.

What else has Siân Brooke been in?: You’ll likely recognise Sian from appearing in Sherlock as Eurus Holmes, as Aemma Arryn in House of the Dragon and as Diedre Young in Good Omens. She’s also had roles in Meadowlands, Foyle’s War and The Terror.

Martin McCann as Stevie Neil

Who is Stevie Neil?: Stevie is another officer the story of Blue Lights is centred on and he’s in a romantic relationship with fellow officer Grace, with the pair trying to buy a house together. He’s also just been given a promotion to sergeant.

What else has Martin McCann been in?: Over the years Martin has appeared on shows such as Hostage, Say Nothing, Marcella, Vera and the movies The Survivalist and Calibre.

Katherine Devlin as Annie Conlon

Who is Annie Conlon?: Annie is another constable whose journey we follow in the show and joined at the same time as Grace.

What else has Katherine Devlin been in?: Aside from Blue Lights, Katherine has starred in The Dig, Vikings and Day of The Jackal.

Nathan Braniff as Tommy Foster

Who is Tommy Foster?: Tommy is the third officer who joined at the same time as Grace and Annie. This season he’s now living with girlfriend Aisling and fellow officer Annie.

What else has Nathan Braniff been in?: Blue Lights is Nathan’s first on-screen role.

Joanne Crawford as Inspector Helen McNally

Who is Inspector Helen McNally?: Helen is the inspector in charge of the department and this season her former mentor and new character Colly turns up asking for her help.

What else has Joanne Crawford been in?: If you’re a fan of police dramas, you’ll likely already recognise Joanne from her role in Line of Duty as Fairbank’s solicitor. She’s also known for starring Small Things Like These, We Have Always Lived in The Castle, and The Fall.

Andi Osho as Sandra Cliff

Who is Sandra Cliff?: Sandra is another member of the team working at the police force, and this season will see her working more closely with Stevie following his promotion.

What else has Andi Osho been in?: Over the years Andi has appeared in a number of iconic shows, including Sex Education, Breeders, Line of Duty, Stay Close, and I May Destroy You.

Michael Smiley as Paul ‘Colly’ Collins

Who is Paul ‘Colly’ Collins?: New to the show this year is Paul ‘Colly’ Collins who used to be Helen’s mentor and is now asking for her help in gathering intelligence on a case he’s working on.

What else has Michael Smiley been in?: Michael has been on our screens since the early 2000s and had roles in shows such as Luther, Bad Sisters and Generation Z. He’s also appeared in the movies The Other Boleyn Girl, The Lobster and Free Fire.

Cathy Tyson as Dana Morgan

Who is Dana Morgan?: Dana runs a private members club in Belfast but there’s far to her that meets the eye.

What else has Cathy Tyson been in?: Cathy Tyson is best known for her role in the 1986 movie Mona Lisa. She’s also had roles in movies including Help, Priest, Serpent and The Rainbow. More recently she’s starred in TV shows Boiling Point, Criminal Record and Kaos.
