Celtic warned of ‘certain’ summer transfer exit of leading star

Celtic star Daizen Maeda is a “certainty” to leave the club this summer.
The 28-year-old winger, who was close to a move to Wolfsburg last season, is viewed as a “cast-iron certainty” to exit Celtic Park, according to former Hearts and Motherwell midfielder Andy Halliday.

The Bundesliga switch for Maeda fell through last season after Celtic failed to secure a replacement in time.
Maeda, who struggled with form for most of last season, redeemed himself with a late scoring run, helping the club achieve a league and cup double under Martin O’Neill.
Despite this, Halliday suggests Maeda is likely to depart the Hoops this transfer window.
Halliday told the Scottish Football podcast: “There’s been a lot of chatter from outgoings from Celtic, Arne Engels I think there will be a lot of interest in him given there was in January.

“Maeda you feel is a cast-iron certainty he’s not going to be a Celtic player next season.”
His departure might be delayed due to his current commitment to the World Cup, with Halliday noting that the tournament will slow down transfer processes.
Halliday said: “It will be slow at the minute but that goes both ways.
“Yang’s at the World Cup, Nico Raskin came on for Belgium and made a really positive introduction so that goes both ways.
“In both teams’ cases if they’re losing players they will have to replace them.”
