The Stanley Cup’s Return Trip To North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. – Since flying home from Nevada with the Carolina Hurricanes on June 15, Lord Stanley’s Cup has received a wide-ranging tour of the Old North State.
Here are some of the standout trips from each day thus far:
- Shortly after touching down at RDU, the trip began with a wild night at Teets.
- Tuesday, June 16, was spent mostly in the North Hills area with players, including stops at local restaurants Brodeto and Vivace.
- On Wednesday, June 17, the guys took Stanley golfing at Contentment in Hays, North Carolina.
- Thursday, June 18, the coaching staff held a mini parade, where one of the Brind’Amour’s family chickens was placed in the bowl.
- On the morning of Friday, June 19, after heading to bible study with Jaccob Slavin, the Stanley Cup joined the Conn Smythe Trophy and the Prince of Wales Trophy at Lenovo Center, as the organization allowed employees to take pictures.
- The weekend of Saturday, June 20, kicked off with perhaps the longest day of them all. The Cup was ever-present at the team’s Championship Celebration, which drew over 192,000, before making its way up and down Glenwood Ave once more.
- On Sunday, June 21, General Manager Eric Tulsky used the 35-pound silver mug to surprise some new dads for Father’s Day at UNC Health Rex.
- Among other stops, Conn Smythe Trophy winner Jordan Staal took his hardware to Northridge Country Club on Monday, June 22.
- Tuesday, June 23, was perhaps the most important visit of the Cup’s return trip to Raleigh, stopping by North Carolina’s Legislative Building.
The Cup has since departed to the NHL Draft for a few days. Shortly following, the team will finalize each player’s day with the trophy, which is expected to begin in July.
