Those who thought that Michael Olise couldn’t improve on his excellent debut campaign at Bayern have been happily proven wrong. After registering 17 goals and 18 assists in 50 games across 2024/25 to be named Bayern’s Player of the Season, the France international has now smashed 25 goals and 28 assists from 57 competitive outings for Bayern this past term.
They are truly astonishing numbers and most certainly didn’t go unnoticed by Bayern supporters, who decided that the winger deserved to retain his title as Bayern’s Player of the Season. He received over half the votes (51.4%) to come out ahead of Harry Kane (32%) and Luis Díaz (4%).

“It’s his mentality that makes Michael so special. He works in such a detailed way, can sometimes also get frustrated when things don’t work out,” said coach Vincent Kompany of his player at a press conference in April. But he also had a warning to others: “I believe he can get even better. I’m not saying he needs to do something different, but I just see in his mentality and the work I see every day in training that there’s even more room for improvement. It’s impressive.”
Olise’s abilities mean he’s capable of turning any game on its head. His strikes against Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga and Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals were voted Bayern’s Goal of the Month for May and April respectively. There was also his almost untouchable display against Freiburg in November when he had a direct hand in five goals to overturn the visitors’ 2-0 lead and produce a 6-2 victory. Or the 5-1 win over RB Leipzig in January, which was an even contest until Olise’s introduction on the hour mark to provide three assists and score one himself to make it a comfortable result.
However, it’s not just those impressive numbers that have made the 24-year-old one of world football’s standout performers over the past season. The way he moves the ball almost at will has made him a joy to behold. He’s the man everyone wants to talk to, but Olise prefers to do all his talking on the pitch. It’s what’s made him such a firm favourite with the fans.
