Ersson traded to Senators by Maple Leafs for draft pick

He was 14-11-5 with a 3.12 goals-against average and .870 save percentage in 33 games (29 starts) this season. The 26-year-old did not play in the playoffs, serving as the backup to Dan Vladar.

“We’re going to make some decisions as to what (our goalie pipeline) looks like,” Maple Leafs general manager John Chayka said after Ersson was acquired, as to whether or not he would remain with the team. “He’s a good young goaltender, he’s someone we identified with upside and someone our staff could work with so we will get together with director of goaltending development and scouting Curtis McElhinney and make that decision.”

Selected by the Flyers in the fifth round (No. 143) of the 2018 NHL Draft, Ersson is 65-50-17 with a 3.01 GAA, .884 save percentage and seven shutouts in 143 regular-season games (133 starts).
