Disney Unveils Surprrise Short ‘Lilo & Scratch’ With Chris Sanders

Disney showed fresh footage for Hexed at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Friday and premiered a surprise theatrical short reprising the beloved 2002 character Stitch in animated form.
Entitled Lilo & Scratch, it brings back Stitch and Lilo alongside a new rescue-cat character intent on eating Pudge the fish.
Chris Sanders, who voiced Stitch in the original 2002 animation Lilo & Stitch and 2025 live action reboot, reprises his role in the short. He is joined by his 2025 live action co-star Maia Kealoha for the voice of Lilo.
The short will run theatrically alongside Hexed which is slated for a November 25 release.
Disney directors Jason Hand, Fawn Veerasunthorn and Malcon Pierce took to the stage for Friday’s session which also showcased extended footage for Hexed.
“The original film has made such a huge impact on our artistic journey and the same goes for many of the artists on our team who reached out to us when they heard we were pitching a Stitch short,” said Veerasunthorn
“Not only did we assemble all the Lilo & Stitch fans at the studio, this group of animation nerds like us also got to work with the artists who actually worked on the original film,” she added.
“We have the incredible good fortune to work alongside the original supervising animator for Stitch, Mr. Alex Cooper Schmidt… he’s always reminding us this is a cartoon. Push it very, very far. What are you afraid for?”
The session premiered the open scenes of the film as the cat is introduced to the home by Lilo, who then heads out, leaving Stitch to deal with the furry arrival with a demonic streak. Disney later released the poster art. Scroll down for a first look.
The second part of the session was devoted to Hexed, the tale of teenager Billie and her strict single mom who discover that she has unknown magical powers that will turn their lives upside down.
Most the clips were of early scenes in the film as Billie becomes aware of her magical powers and is then sucked into a wooded portal leading to the land of Hexe, where she is welcomed by Ms. Quill and Elias Quire, voiced by Tracey Ullman and Stephen Fry respectively.
“We are having so much fun creating these enchanted objects and so lucky to have acting royalty playing these roles,” said Hand.
