Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Make Ultra Rare Appearance, Bringing Their Signature Style to Brother’s Wedding in Matching Looks

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have been carefully avoiding the spotlight for years. However, the twins recently made a rare joint appearance at their brother Trent’s wedding to Alexis Armistead. The Full House stars were pictured in a group photo on Alexis’s Instagram, posing with the bride and groom along with other family members, including Ashley’s husband Louis Eisner, their younger sister, actress Elizabeth Olsen, and her husband, Robbie Arnett. Also present were the Olsens’s half-siblings, Courtney and Jake Olsen.

Mary-Kate and Ashley appeared to stick to an all-black wedding guest dress code—which, luckily, perfectly matched their signature understated style. The twins, who stood next to the bride in the photo, both matched in long black gowns, one with structured shoulders and a high neckline, the other with a plunging V-neck. Both wore their hair in their go-to long blonde waves.

Mary-Kate and Ashley were last spotted together in May, when they stepped out for a rare outing in New York City in coordinated minimalist looks featuring oversized scarves and handbags from their brand The Row.

Back in November, the twins appeared together at the CDFA Fashion Awards—once again in all-black—where they accepted an award for their work on The Row.

A month earlier, the pair made another infrequent joint public appearance—their first in three years—attending a W Magazine party during New York Fashion Week.

As the twins explained to i-D in 2021, per Business Insider, they are “discreet people” these days—and their preference for privacy often influences their iconic pared-down style. “I think that potentially that’s just our aesthetic, our design preference,” Ashley said. “But that doesn’t mean that we don’t also appreciate something truly ornate or maximal.”

In fact, The Row is their way of finding privacy after being childhood stars. “We’ve been there, we’ve done that, we started out that way,” Mary-Kate said of their former lives in the public eye to British Vogue in 2019. “But this is the way we chose to move forward in our lives: to not be in the spotlight, to really have something that speaks for itself.”
