Heat stick around for Marathon weekend – Chris

Good evening to one and all! We’re headed right into the weekend and we’ve got some heat to come with it. Saturday’s high is expected to reach 90°, which could match or surpass the 1922 record of 89°. Factor in the wind gusts of 30–40 mph, and it’s going to be a toasty, breezy weekend.
Sunday brings the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, and conditions will be much warmer than usual for early October. Morning lows will start near 70, but afternoon highs could climb into the low 80s with lingering humidity. That means runners and spectators alike should pace themselves, hydrate often, and prepare for heat stress along the course. A stray shower can’t be ruled out, but the bigger story will be the warmth.
By Monday, the heat breaks. Highs will fall back into the 60s with breezy and cooler conditions, much more in line with early October averages. The cooler, seasonable weather sticks around into next week, with highs mainly in the low to mid-60s.
Enjoy the sunshine and warmth while it lasts, but remember—the marathon forecast is looking hot, so plan ahead.
Enjoy the evening, and take care!
