David Beckham fronts Wimbledon while controversial woman from his past sits directly behind

There’s a lot of seats at Wimbledon but not nearly enough in the Royal Box where David Beckham sat awkwardly close to Katherine Jenkins, the Welsh opera singer he’d been tangled in a feud with since 2017.

On day one of the star-studded tennis tournament Beckham, 51, had his eyes locked firmly onto the court as Jenkins, 46, sat directly behind him with her husband Andrew Levitas.

The pair’s complicated history stretches back to 2012 when Jenkins vehemently denied rumours that she and Beckham were having an affair.

She blasted the speculation as “untrue” and “very hurtful” clarifying she’d only met Beckham twice, once at the 2010 Military Awards and once in the West End in early 2012.

While you’d think that would be the end of any tension between Beckham and Jenkins, a new scandal emerged in 2017. Leaked emails dating back years saw the footballer allegedly brand Jenkins’ 2014 Order of the British Empire award for service to music and charity a “f–king joke”.

At the time, Beckham was reportedly frustrated at not receiving a knighthood, an honour which he later received in November 2025 for his service to sport and charity.

In the leaked emails, which later became known as ‘Beckileaks’, Beckham referenced Jenkins’ alleged previous casual drug use and questioned why she deserved an OBE.

While the former Manchester United player never commented on the emails, Jenkins broke her silence multiple times.

She told Fabulous magazine: “I’m a human being. Of course, something like that would be hurtful.

“But at the same time I’ve learned when you’re famous, sometimes you get dragged into things you shouldn’t be involved in. Sometimes people feel like they know you, but actually they know nothing about you.”

The Beckham PR team defended that the emails had been “taken out of context and doctored”, even still Jenkins was upset she had never received an apology.

“It’s obviously disappointing. I’ve never heard anything from them about it,” she previously told The Sun.

“I also don’t feel the need to defend this, by the way. I know what I’ve done, and when I got the OBE, it was given to me for music, and for charity.”

While there didn’t seem to be any resolution between Beckham or Jenkins, she moved on by wishing the famous family all the best.

Almost a decade later and the pair were spotted just metres from one another at Wimbledon, though pictures didn’t capture any efforts between them to interact.

Jenkins was all smiles, holding hands with her husband, who she’s been married to since 2014 while Beckham mingled with his mother Sandra and Dame Mary Berry.
