Rochester, N.Y. — With temperatures soaring, HVAC companies across the area are reporting a surge in service calls as people try to keep cool.
Local professionals are urging homeowners to take simple precautions to ensure their air conditioning units run efficiently during the heatwave.
“A lot of times if it hasn’t been maintained in a while, it’s making sure that the outdoor unit is clean, the coils on the outside are clear of any cottonwood, grass clippings, dust, dirt and things like that,” said Nathan Blowers, residential service division manager at Triple-O HVAC.
In addition to maintaining cooling systems, community members are encouraged to check on elderly neighbors, especially those without air conditioning, to help them stay safe during the extreme heat.
