Gusford Primary School, in Sheldrake Drive, made the exceptional decision on Friday stating it would leave its registers open late on Monday so that pupils could watch England’s World Cup clash with Mexico.
However, Active Learning Trust – who runs the school – have enforced that it opens as usual ruling out the chance of registers staying open later than normal.

A spokesperson for the Active Learning Trust said: “So that we have a consistent approach across all our schools, we can confirm that Gusford Primary School in Ipswich will open as normal on Monday morning.
“We appreciate that some families may be disappointed by the change and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“While we will always support opportunities to celebrate significant national moments during the school day, our priority remains providing pupils with an exceptional, high-quality education.”
This follows Gusford Primary School Headteacher Stephen Tapley, saying on Friday: “We want the children to be in school learning, but we also want to support the England team getting down to the last-16.
“The school has given parents an option of an extra hour to get their children ready for school!”
Taking to social media, Mr Tapley announced the school will keep its registers open until 10am on Monday to help deal with the early morning football.

Parents were quick to react to the news, praising the headteacher for his decision.
One commentor replied: “A nice touch, as always, from a brilliant headteacher.”
News spread late on Friday that FIFA was considering moving the kick-off time of the England/Mexico game due to thunderstorms being forecasted for the original time.
This would have seen kick-off brought forward to 7pm BST but ultimately FIFA decided to commit to the original kick-off time.
This follows the news that pubs will be allowed to stay open until 5am on Monday to allow fans to watch the game in their favourite venue.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on Thursday that he was passing emergency legislation to allow publicans to stay open through the night for the game.
