NASCAR O’Reilly Series Chicagoland race live updates, highlights, leaderboard

The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series races at Chicagoland Speedway for the first time since 2019 in the Cuervo 300 on July 4.

Connor Zilisch is on the pole after a rainout on July 3 canceled qualifying and condensed the on-track activity to a practice session before the race.

Chase Elliott is in the field this weekend, driving the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet. Kyle Larson twice won races on 1.5-mile tracks with the same entry.

Chevrolet has won the last nine O’Reilly Auto Parts Series races overall, including Shane van Gisbergen’s win last weekend at Sonoma with JR Motorsports.

Toyota has just two wins this season, and several entries are around the Chase bubble with five regular-season races left on the schedule.

The 300-mile race is not starting on time as a storm is passing over the track. The storm doesn’t appear to be clearing anytime soon, and the track will need to be dried.

Storm clouds are visibly approaching the track from the west outside turns 3 and 4. The National Weather Service shows a weather system moving in, with rain starting within the next hour, around 4 p.m. local time or sooner.
