WASHINGTON (7News) — One of the nation’s biggest Independence Day celebrations is set to cap off America’s 250th birthday with a historic fireworks display over the National Mall on Saturday night.
The Freedom 250 “Salute to America” celebration will feature military flyovers, live entertainment and remarks from President Donald Trump before fireworks light up the Washington skyline.

If you can’t make it to the National Mall, 7News will stream the fireworks live on WJLA.com and on the 7News YouTube channel, allowing viewers to watch the celebration from anywhere.
Below is the original schedule that was sent out by Freedom 250: however, severe storms in the D.C. area temporarily postponed all events on the National Mall.
- 7 p.m. – Main program begins on the Washington Monument grounds
- 9:45 p.m. – President Donald Trump delivers his Freedom 250 address
- 10:30 p.m. – Historic fireworks display over the National Mall
Freedom 250 said the National Mall will reopen at 9:45 p.m. President Donald Trump is now set to give his remarks at 11 p.m. and the fireworks will happen after.
“Rain or shine, the American people deserve a celebration worthy of our nation’s historic 250th birthday. For 250 years, Americans have overcome every challenge with grit, resilience, and determination. A little rain will never diminish our pride, our patriotism, or our celebration of the greatest nation in the history of the world,” the post read.
President Donald Trump said in a post on Truth Social “we will wait it out.”
