Play was halted during the Magic Weekend clash between St Helens and Wigan Warriors after Nathan Lowe appeared to faint after picking up an injury.
Lowe was having a strong game in what was just his second Super League appearance for the Cherry and Whites but his afternoon was brought to an end prematurely just before the interval at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The young winger was pushed into touch by a contingent of Saints players and the Saints men peeled away, it was immediately clear that Lowe had sustained a nasty looking leg injury.
Medical staff rushed to his side and eventually stood him up to carry him down the tunnel. However, as they helped Lowe down the side of the pitch, the Wigan man appeared to faint.
Paramedics rushed to his side and helped him back up to his feet, but Lowe appeared to lose consciousness once more and had to be laid down close to the touchline.
Play was eventually stopped by referee Chris Kendall due to Lowe’s condition and several minutes passed before the final few moments of the first half could be played out, with Lowe placed on a stretcher and carried down the tunnel.
Clarification has since come through broadcaster Sky Sports that Lowe was experienced a drop in blood pressure as he was helped from the field which ultimately led to him passing out.
Daryl Clark and Ethan Havard both left the field for HIAs shortly before the incident with Lowe took place.
