Who is Orjan Nyland, Norway goalkeeper who saved penalty in FIFA World Cup 2026 match against Brazil

Norway keeper Orjan Nyland kept out a penalty in the 13th minute of the first half in the FIFA World Cup 2026 round of 16 encounter against Brazil in New Jersey on Sunday.

The 35-year-old dived the right way during Bruno Guimaraes’ stuttering penalty kick to keep the game level at 0-0.

The shot-stopper currently plays for Sevilla in La Liga, who he moved to in 2023 after spending a season at RB Leipzig.

The custodian, who was born in Volda, began his playing career at Hodd before joining Molde in 2013. He has also played in the Premier League for Aston Villa and AFC Bournemouth.

At international level, he has been capped 75 times since his debut in 2013. Nyland has had 42 penalties taken against him before the ongoing encounter and has made only seven saves.
