Mohamed Salah has brought to an end his long and successful association with Liverpool Football Club.
The man known affectionately on the red half of Merseyside as the Egyptian King reached an agreement in March to terminate his contract at Anfield early, having previously signed a deal to keep him there until 2027.
Salah marked his departure with an emotional video message on social media.
“Leaving is never easy,” he said.
“You gave me the best time of my life. I will be always one of you. This club will always be my home to me and to my family.
“Thank you for everything. Because of all of you, I will never walk alone.”
Now, attention is set to turn to the forward’s next move.
Salah himself is still out at the World Cup with his country, where his side face Australia in the last 32, but resolving his future will clearly be a key item of business this summer.
Turkish club Fenerbahce were previously touted as favourites with the bookies to get a deal done for the 34-year-old, but it appears a move to Saudi Arabia is now considered the most likely possibility.
According to SkyBet, Al Ahli are now considered to be at the head of the queue for his signature, and are currently priced at 6/4 to get a deal done.
Just behind them are Al Hilal at 15/8, while Al Ittihad (10/3) are also among the contenders.
It remains to be seen how far Egypt will go in the World Cup this summer, but the possibility of Salah staying stateside and signing with an MLS side has been ranked at 6/1.
