Dog food sold nationwide recalled for potential ‘sharp metal and plastic foreign material’

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – The Food and Drug Administration issued a recall for dog food sold nationwide because it may contain “sharp metal and plastic foreign material.”
According to a recall from the FDA, Pedigree-brand canned “High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor 13.2oz for dogs” was recalled after the manufacturer discovered the products may contain “sharp metal and plastic foreign material” in the cans.
“Health risks to dogs ingesting sharp foreign objects can range from choking to lacerations or blockages in the gastrointestinal tract,” the recall read. “Consumers who fed the recalled product to their dog and are concerned should contact their veterinarian.”
The affected lot codes were 613C3KKCFC and 613C1KKCFC.
Customers were encouraged to contact Pedigree for a replacement product, and not to feed the recalled product to their dogs.
