London’s Leicester Square Odeon hosted the red carpet gala for Christopher Nolan’s latest film adaptation of Homer’s saga, The Odyssey, on Monday, July 6.
Nolan was joined by the stars of the film, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Zendaya, Elliot Page, Jon Bernthal, Himesh Patel, John Leguizamo, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Samantha Morton and many more.

The film follows the poem, which begins not in the immediate aftermath of the Trojan War, but years later. The war has ended, and most of the Greek heroes have returned. However, Odysseus, who devised the Trojan Horse, has been lost at sea for 10 long years. During his prolonged absence, his palace in Ithaca has been overrun by a horde of arrogant suitors, all vying for the hand of his faithful wife, Penelope, and devouring his wealth. Their insolence and disrespect create a perilous situation for Telemachus, who is coming of age and struggling to assert himself against the oppressive suitors.
The Odyssey is set to open in theaters and in Imax globally on July 17, distributed by Universal Pictures and produced by Emma Thomas and Nolan for their company Syncopy.
