The summer of sport is well underway, with the FIFA World Cup semi-finals taking place this weekend, alongside the Wimbledon final. If you’ve been keeping an eye on the tennis, the chances are you’ve heard the name Arthur Fery, possibly for the first time this year. But who is the Wimbledon wild card? Arthur is playing a quarterfinal match against Italy’s Flavio Cobolli today on Centre Court, with the likes of Queen Camilla and Dominic West looking on from the Royal box. He’s ranked number 114 in the world and became the first British wildcard player to reach the singles quarter-final (not to mention only the fourth British man to do so this century) after he beat Grigor Dimitrov on Tuesday.

Arthur is 23 years old, and was born on July 12, 2002—which means he’ll actually turn 24 this weekend.
Where is Arthur Fery from?
While Arthur was born in Sevres, a suburb of Paris in France, he actually grew up in Wimbledon after moving to London when he was a month old. In one of his post-match interviews, the tennis player said it felt like a “full circle moment” to be playing the tournament, after spending many years watching the tennis as a child.
His mother, Olivia, was a professional tennis player who represented Hong Kong in the Federation Cup in 1998 and used to work for the Lawn Tennis Association, while his dad is a businessman named Loïc Fery who founded the investment firm Chenavari.

Does Arthur Fery have a girlfriend?
While it’s not 100 percent confirmed if Arthur is in a relationship, The Sun reports that he was most recently linked to the food content creator Honor Millard, who he reportedly met at King’s College School.
However, Arthur has never commented on his relationship status, so take all this ^^ with a grain of salt.
Why is Arthur Fery a wild card?
A wild card is when someone who is ranked too low to receive an automatic place in a tournament qualifies to play.
After his win against Grigor on Tuesday, Arthur told the crowd, “What I experienced today, I’m going to cherish for the rest of my life. Who knows, maybe I will never get to experience that ever again. It’s the first time I’m playing on this stage. That might be the first and last time—but hopefully not.”
Amazingly, Arthur started 2026 as the tennis world number 185, and entered Wimbledon ranked 114. He will leave the tournament as number 63 in the rankings, making him the new British number two behind Cameron Norrie, who was knocked out of the tournament on day one.
