CM Punk is the talk of the town
CM Punk made his return to television on Monday Night Raw this week in Chicago, something that had been rumored some time ago. He immediately won the WWE championship from Sami Zayn, which was a surprise.
Fightful Select says this was the plan all along. WWE knew when he was returning, and they always planned to have Zayn lose the title to him.
Meanwhile, False Finish says that Punk winning and going to SummerSlam to defend the title has been planned “for well over a month.” They also add, however, that initial plans called for Punk vs. Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia but WWE bumped that to SummerSlam this year in Minnesota because they want it to be even better than WrestleMania 42.
The battle for QB1 starts soon enough.
