Coach Greg Jackson says UFC newcomer is the most talented athlete he’s ever seen

Coach Greg Jackson said Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson could redefine mixed martial arts as the heavyweight prepares for his UFC debut, underscoring high expectations around UFC 329. The 26-year-old will face Elisha Ellison on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. In comments on the UFC 329 Embedded series, Jackson described Steveson’s athletic ability as “unprecedented.” Steveson won heavyweight gold at the Tokyo Olympics in August 2021, turned pro last year, and is 3-0 with first-round finishes under mentorship from Jon Jones. Jackson, who has coached Georges St. Pierre, Rashad Evans, Holly Holm, and Jones, outlines why Steveson’s Olympic wrestling background is shaping expectations for his Octagon debut.
