Kylian Mbappé injury update as France star leaves field against Morocco

Kylian Mbappé starred in France’s World Cup quarterfinal win against Morocco, but the superstar forward may have suffered an injury before going off in the second half on July 9.

Mbappé scored the opener in the second half after missing a penalty in the first half, reaching eight goals for the 2026 World Cup and 20 for his career in the competition.

France got a goal from Ousmane Dembélé shortly after, cruising into the semifinals with a 2-0 victory in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

But France may face a nervous wait after Mbappé went down with an apparent injury in the second half.

In the 76th minute, the 27-year-old was standing at the center circle and went down to ground with the play happening far away from him. Mbappé was examined on the field and replaced by Jean-Philippe Mateta in the 77th minute.

Mbappé was able to walk off under his own power, waving to the crowd at Gillette Stadium as he exited.

The 27-year-old was later seen sitting on the bench with an ice pack on the top of his right foot.

France moves on to the semifinal in Arlington, Texas on Tuesday, July 14, where it will face either Spain or Belgium.
