Coquihalla reopens after fire

A vehicle fire forces the brief closure of the Coquihalla Highway outside Hope. The road is now clear.
UPDATE 12:55 p.m.
The Coquihalla Highway has now reopened in both directions, reports DriveBC.
ORIGINAL 12:20 p.m.
A vehicle fire has the northbound lanes of the Coquihalla Highway shut down between Merritt and Hope.
DriveBC is telling motorists to expect “major delays” due to the incident, described as being between the Portia exit and the Zopkios brake check north of Hope.
“Watch for traffic control,” DriveBC said. “Highway 3 is available as a detour.”
Southbound traffic is not affected.
