Ferrari handed overwhelming verdict following Lewis Hamilton decision

RacingNews365 readers have delivered a resounding verdict on Ferrari’s decision to retain Lewis Hamilton for the 2027 season, with 97.6% voting in favour and just 2.4% against.
It is a remarkable show of faith in a 41-year-old who endured a nightmare 2025 campaign, finishing sixth in the standings with 156 points, zero grand prix podiums and a yawning 86-point deficit to teammate Charles Leclerc. That first year in red was, statistically, the weakest of Hamilton’s entire career.
And yet here we are. Halfway through 2026, Hamilton sits third in the drivers’ championship on 147 points, ahead of Leclerc, with a victory in Barcelona, five podiums from nine races and points at every single round. The turnaround has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Team principal Fred Vasseur confirmed the news in typically understated fashion. When asked directly whether Hamilton would race for Ferrari in 2027, the team principal simply replied: “Yes.”
Hamilton himself has long viewed 2026 as the season that would define his time at Maranello, crediting Vasseur for the internal changes that fuelled the resurgence.
“I wouldn’t be in this team without Fred,” Hamilton said after his Barcelona triumph. “Fred is the one that made it happen, of which I’m incredibly grateful to him for.”
Our readers clearly agree that betting on Hamilton remains the right call. At 97.6%, there is very little room for debate.
