Juana Álvarez

Juana Álvarez nació el 08 de marzo de 1958 en la Estancia, Jalisco. Mexico. Hija de Nicolas Cruz y Dominga Pérez.  Ella fue la menor de 6 hermanos.

A los 20 años, Ella conoció a su esposo Benigno Álvarez con el cual terminaría casándose el 17 de junio de 1978. El cual llegaron juntos a cumplir 48 años de casados. Al año tuvieron su primera hija Cristina, seguido de José Guadalupe y Ricardo Álvarez.  Ella fue abuela de 9 nietos y un bisnieto.

Juana fue una mujer dedicada a Dios y a su familia. Siendo una mujer, madre y abuela amorosa a la cual le gustaba mucho cantar y cocinar para toda su familia.  Por muchos será recordara por su gran fe.

Le precedieron en muerte su papá, Nicolas Cruz, su mama, Dominga Pérez, y dos hermanos, Esteban Cruz, y Leobardo Cruz.

A Juana le sobreviven su esposo querido, Benigno Álvarez, su hija Cristina; sus hijos, José Guadalupe y Ricardo; su hermana, Modesta Cruz, y sus hermanos, Silvano Cruz y José Isabel Cruz.

La familia recibirá visitantes el lunes 13 de julio de 2026, de 5:00 a 8:00 p.m., y se rezará un Rosario a las 6:00 p.m. en Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave, Amarillo.

Se celebrará una Misa de Funeral Cristiano a las 11:00 a.m. el martes 14 de julio en la Iglesia Católica Blessed Sacrament, 2500 S. Bolton Street, en Amarillo. El entierro seguirá en el Cementerio Llano East, ubicado en la esquina de las calles 34th y Arthur.

Juana Álvarez was born on March 8, 1958, in Estancia, Jalisco, Mexico. She was the daughter of Nicolas Cruz and Dominga Pérez. She was the youngest of six siblings.

At age 20, she met her husband, Benigno Álvarez, whom she married on June 17, 1978. A year later, they had their first daughter, Cristina, followed by José Guadalupe and Ricardo Álvarez. She was a grandmother to nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.  They celebrated 48 years of marriage together.

Juana was a woman dedicated to God and her family. As a wife, mother, and loving grandmother, she enjoyed singing and cooking for her entire family. She will be remembered by many for her great faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, Nicolas Cruz, her mother, Dominga Pérez, and two brothers, Esteban Cruz and Leobardo Cruz.

Juana is survived by her beloved husband, Benigno Álvarez; her daughter, Cristina; her sons, José Guadalupe and Ricardo; her sister, Modesta Cruz; and her brothers, Silvano Cruz and José Isabel Cruz.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., and a Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave, Amarillo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2500 S. Bolton Street, in Amarillo. Interment will follow at Llano East Cemetery, located at the corner of 34th Street and Arthur.
