Real feel temperatures will be increasing to dangerous levels this week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — It was a really nice summer weekend in Central New York. We had very warm days without much humidity, lots of sun, light winds and comfortably cool nights for sleeping.
Our weather pattern will be changing over the next few days. Intense summer sun, hot temperatures and high humidity will be making it a bit dangerous for some people to be outside for too long on a few days this week.
Here’s a look at your hourly planner for now through Monday evening.
We are monitoring some intense heat and increasing levels of humidity for Monday night, Tuesday, Tuesday night and then decreasing after Wednesday and towards the end of the week.
NATIONAL OBSERVED HIGH TEMPERATURES SUNDAY
We’ve been through intense heat before including back on July 1st, 2nd and 3rd, however this week’s intense heat will not be as extreme as it was a couple weeks ago.
It’s always good to get some reminders on hot weather safety and how the heat can affect our health. Be sure to know what symptoms to look out for in case you or someone you know begin to suffer from heat exhaustion or heat stroke.
WHAT SYMPTOMS TO LOOK OUT FOR THIS WEEK
The reason for our intensifying hot weather is due to the same area of high pressure that’s been overhead all weekend. We’ll now see an increase in moisture along with the heat. This combination limits how much sweat can evaporate off our skin and into the air. This means our body temperature will not be able to cool down as well as it did over the weekend.
Here are the Future Feels Like Temperature maps for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

In case you’re heading to the beach Monday, sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen otherwise you will get burned as the UV index will be very high! One application of sunscreen for many hours will not be enough. Reapplying ever couple hours is key.
Do you or someone you know own a pool? It looks pretty ideal to jump in and cool off over the next three days. Enjoy!
After a perfect weekend for boating without rain, storms, gusty winds and choppy waters, we’ll see one more nice day on Monday, but then boating will not be recommended comes Tuesday.

In case you need to cut the grass or some edging in the front yard or back yard, here’s my best thinking on when looks best:
MOW OR NO FORECAST NEXT FEW DAYS
Sunday night will be very similar to what we experienced Saturday night with comfortably cool conditions for sleeping. If you turned off the air and opened your windows last night, you should be able to do the same again tonight. This should hopefully help cut down on your electric bill a bit.
Once we get past Tuesday and Wednesday, a cool front will bring down our temperatures and humidity for the second half of the week and into next weekend too!
As always please check back with our forecast on-air, online and via our CNY Central social media pages for updates.
Be smart about the intense heat and you’ll be okay.
Have a good start to the week!
