Ex-Ibrox striker offers trial to former Rangers star after ‘massive’ injury blow

The 27-year-old, who left Rangers this summer after 17 years, played in the club’s Premier Sports Cup match against Kelty Hearts.

This comes after a major setback for Queen of the South as recent signing Trevor Carson was forced to retire due to a serious knee injury.

Manager Nicky Clark is now on the hunt for a new No 1. He said: “It is a massive blow to both Trevor and us that he has had to retire.

“He has had a great career, and the experience he would have brought made him an unbelievable signing.

“I respect his honesty and appreciate him telling me now, it’s a blow, but we need to move on.”

With no senior goalkeeper ahead of the League One campaign, Wright has been given the chance to secure a deal in Dumfries.

The former Rangers academy stopper hopes to impress after ending his long spell at Ibrox.

Clark is now assessing his options following the loss of the experienced former Motherwell, Dundee United, St Mirren, and Dundee keeper, Carson.
