Court records say that around 10:50 p.m. July 4, Vick approached the victim at the party and the two began arguing. The victim told investigators Vick had a handgun tucked under his armpit. The victim said he tried to de-escalate and walk away, but Vick allegedly followed him, continued yelling and fired one shot into the victim’s lower back.
The victim said he fell to the ground and saw Vick still pointing the gun at him before Vick ran away. The victim provided the suspect’s name to authorities, and a few days later identified Vick in a lineup, according to court documents.
Vick is being held on a $1.5 million bond and is due in court July 13 for an arraignment.
Vick played for KU from 2015-19, playing in 94 games and making 41 starts. The Memphis native missed the final 8 games of his senior season due to a leave of absence.
