Brad Pitt’s kids Zahara and Maddox take out newspaper ads to officially drop ‘Pitt’ from last name

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s kids Zahara and Maddox took out newspaper ads as the next step in officially dropping their father’s last name.

Court documents obtained by Page Six on Monday show that Zahara, 21, published her petition to drop the actor’s surname in the Los Angeles Daily Journal once a week for four consecutive weeks.

The filing states that her notice ran in the paper on June 16, June 23, June 30 and July 7.

The newspaper ad also calls for anyone opposing the change to submit a written opposition before the final hearing.

Zahara now has a scheduled Sept. 28 court hearing for a judge to rule on the motion. If no one objects, the judge can approve the request.

As for Maddox, court docs obtained by Page Six show that the 24-year-old’s petition ran in the same publication as his sister on June 10, June 17, June 24 and July 1.

Publicly publishing a petition in a newspaper is one of California’s required hurdles for a legal name change.

As Page Six previously reported, Zahara legally requested her name be Zahara Jolie instead of Zahara Jolie-Pitt last month.

She also opted out of using her father’s last name when she graduated from Spelman College in May.

While taking the stage to accept her diploma, she was announced as Zahara Marley Jolie.

Maddox filed the same request — changing his name from Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt to Maddox
Chivan Jolie — in May, listing the reasons as “personal.”

Maddox, notably, informally ditched his dad’s surname in February credits for his work on his mom’s most recent movie, “Couture.”

In 2021, Us Weekly reported that Maddox “doesn’t use Pitt as his last name on documents that aren’t legal and instead uses Jolie,” while noting that the “Maleficent” actress “doesn’t support” her son’s decision to do so.

In 2024, their youngest daughter, Vivienne, also appeared to diss her dad while working with her mom on the Broadway adaptation of “The Outsiders.”

At the time, her name was listed as “Vivienne Jolie” in the show’s Playbill.

Their child Shiloh was the first of the bunch to make things official by removing Pitt from her last name on her 18th birthday.

The teenager “hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself,” “Entertainment Tonight” reported in June 2024.

All six kids have reportedly distanced themselves from the “F1” star following his and Jolie’s 2016 split.

Page Six exclusively reported last month that their son Pax remains close with Pitt’s side of the family despite the complicated family dynamics.

Despite Pax’s close relationship with his father’s family members, he “doesn’t have much of a relationship with Brad,” a second source exclusively told us.
