Emmerdale airs Ross’s dramatic comeuppance

Emmerdale has confirmed Ross Barton’s fate after he is left for dead by Mackenzie Boyd following their explosive confrontation. Mack found out a while ago that Ross had slept with his wife Charity Dingle, but chose to keep the revelation a secret as he supported Charity through the investigation into her sexual assault at the hands of Doctor Todd.
In tonight’s episode of the soap, however, Mack finally snapped and confronted Ross about the betrayal with devastating consequences.
The latest installment began with Mack approaching Ross at the cafe and asking him for some help moving bags at the farm.

Ross pointed out that he no longer works there, but Mack pushes him to help, and eventually they both arrive at the farm to get to work.
Ross is further baffled as Mack puts on an overly friendly demeanour while discussing friendship and secrets “eating away at you,” before quickly switching to small talk.
He went on to reflect on their unlikely friendship after initially despising each other, before saying he doesn’t take the apparent trust between them for granted.
The weirdness of the conversation topics didn’t go unnoticed by Ross, who asked Mack to “put him out of his misery” and tell him what he really wanted to talk about.
He immediately admitted to what happened with Charity, saying it was a “one-time thing” and “meant nothing to him”, further clarifying that he could not be more sorry for what he had done.

He goes on to point out that while he never meant to hurt him, the pair weren’t friends when he slept with Charity.
Mack still sees it as a huge betrayal, even more so as Ross went on to befriend him knowing what he had done. He went on to push Ross for an explanation as to why he did it before their confrontation erupted into a physical fight.
As things got increasingly heated, Mack pushed Ross from the barn’s mezzanine level and left him for dead as he lay lifeless on the floor. Is it a decision he will come to regret, and will Ross survive the fall?
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
