A plane that left the Hudson Valley Regional Airport, formerly known as the Dutchess County Airport, en route to Piseco Airport in Hamilton County, crashed 150 yards from the airport’s runway on July 12.

The pilot, 74-year-old Kenneth Andreu, of 3 Beech St., Valhalla, died.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, no other injuries occurred, as Andreu was the sole occupant.

Andreu was operating a single-engine Cessna 182J Skyline, manufactured in 1966, which was destroyed in the crash in a wooded area, according to the Aviation Safety Network.

Both the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are at the site of the crash and will be in charge of the investigation moving forward.

At this time, the cause of the crash is unknown.
