Coronation Street confirms shocking prison outcome for Sarah Platt

Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street fans see Sarah Platt’s luck finally run out next week, when a breakthrough by the police leads to her being arrested for Theo Silverton’s murder.
Despite Kit Green’s best efforts to protect his guilty partner, the evidence doesn’t lie and Sarah is taken into custody and grilled by DS Connor-Swain.

Sarah is terrified that she’s going to receive a life sentence, especially as Kit can’t even find a way out for her. However, as the pressure ramps up and Sarah faces prison, the spotlight turns on Gary Windass…
“Sarah is terrified when the police arrive and arrest her in front of all the Platts,” explains our Corrie insider. “Part of her has been waiting for this moment because she never quite believed she could get away with murder. But even so, in the moment that she’s arrested and taken in for questioning, she’s filled with terror.”
Prior to Sarah’s arrest, Kit is still clinging to the hope that Gary will be the focus of police suspicion. He believes there’s more than enough evidence to link Sarah’s ex to the crime and spare her.
However, when Kit tries to dig for information with his colleague McLaughlin, he gets short shrift. Soon, Kit lets Sarah know that if her wedding outfit has been sent off for testing, it’s game over for her. And it’s not long before colleague Lisa pulls Kit up on his decision to stand by his woman.
“Lisa’s now certain that she has the right culprit, but she does understand why Kit would be desperate to keep Sarah out of prison,” continues our spy. “They have a difficult dynamic as colleagues, but Lisa is fair enough to give Kit some very good advice for free – stop covering for Sarah and start thinking about your career and your future! It’s up to Kit if he listens.”

As Sarah protests her innocence under intense questioning, answers are already being demanded of Gary – by his wife Maria Connor. She was already terrified that her husband was mixed up in all this, and next week she finds solid proof that he was lying about that night.
Maria sees the picture Sally Metcalfe took on the night of the murder, which shows Gary on Coronation Street when he swore he never left the builder’s yard. Now Maria realises the false alibi she gave him can be easily disproved, putting them both in a dangerous position.
“Maria gave Gary the alibi because she believed him, but he’s lied time and again,” explains our source. “She isn’t willing to do time for providing a false alibi and leave their kids without both parents. In fact, she’s ready to throw Gary under a bus right now to give herself the best chance of escaping charges!”
As Gary desperately tries to convince Maria to back him, Sarah faces a very tough decision while on remand in prison.

Lisa is stunned when Sarah admits that she killed Theo and recounts the circumstances of that terrible night. But will she give an unedited version and admit Gary’s part in all this?
“Sarah’s life is going to change forever after she confesses – there’s no going back,” confirms our informant. “Gary’s freedom is in her hands and she’ll be the only one who can save him. They’re both in this up to their necks, but Sarah has the ultimate decision as to what happens next…”
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
