KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Cast and crew from Ted Lasso are at CPKC Stadium Saturday for a fan event featuring special merchandise, season 4 previews and a watch party tied to the World Cup.
The season 4 press tour stop brought several stars to the stadium, including Jason Sudeikis, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift and new cast member Abbie Hern.
Higgins hints at season 4 storyline
Jeremy Swift, who plays Higgins on the series, offered a glimpse at what the new season will explore.
“Yeah, and without Apple killing me with that, because I’m giving any spoilers, I think what this season goes to address, certainly Higgins does, is to try and support women’s football financially and with integrity,” Swift said.
Cast reacts to Kansas City stop
Temple, who was joined by her brother on the trip, described the experience of being in town ahead of plans to attend the quarterfinal soccer match at Kansas City Stadium.
“I’ve brought my little brother here today who is a football fanatic. And so, the fact that I get to be here, bring him to this stadium and then later get to go to a football game. Honestly, I feel like I’m going to wake up and I’m going to be in an institution, straightjacket, and we’ll be like, well, that was a beautiful dream,” Temple said.
Sudeikis reflects on his KC roots
Sudeikis, a Kansas City native, said filming around town held particular meaning.
“The scenes here were special in a bunch of different ways,” Sudeikis said.
He also noted seeing Kansas City gain international attention, including during the World Cup.
“I love when it shows up on my algorithm without any prompting and having nothing to do with the show,” Sudeikis said.
He added a lighthearted take on the city’s future, saying, “And I imagine in the 22nd century they’ll probably move the White House here. There’ll be a big debate, whether it be on the Kansas side or the Missouri side.”
The Kansas vs. Missouri debate makes the show
The state line debate came up on stage as well, with Swift and Sudeikis weighing in.
“And I loved working here in Kansas. And the crew were so fantastic, weren’t they? Yeah, they were amazing,” Swift said.
“Technically, Missouri. I mean, this is a plot point in the episode,” Sudeikis said.
Ted Lasso season 4 begins dropping on Apple TV+ on Aug. 5.
