CHASING HI5TORY: Vancouver Whitecaps FC took the first step in their pursuit of a fifth consecutive and sixth overall Voyageurs Cup, defeating CPL side Cavalry FC 4-1 in the first leg of the TELUS Canadian Championship quarterfinals on Wednesday, July 8 at Swangard Stadium. Brian White marked his 200th Whitecaps FC appearance across all competitions with two goal contributions, captain Ryan Gauld returned to action, newly named MLS All-Star Thomas Müller scored his fifth goal of the year, and Rayan Elloumi found the back of the net in his first match since the FIFA World Cup. The second leg is set for Monday, July 13 at 6:30 p.m. PT at ATCO Field. The aggregate winner will advance to face either MLS side CF Montréal or CPL side Vancouver FC in a two-legged semifinal. Montréal currently leads that quarterfinal series 2-1.
ALL OF THE STARS: Last Wednesday, Thomas Müller was named to the 2026 MLS All-Star roster as a coach’s selection, earning his first MLS All-Star honour. He joins Sebastian Berhalter, who was voted into the MLS All-Star First XI and earns his second straight selection after also being named an All-Star in 2025. The Vancouver duo will compete in the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge on Tuesday, July 28 before representing MLS against the LIGA MX All-Stars in the MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 29 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
