The scorching temperatures in Toronto today could set a new record today as the mercury rises to the high 30s, CP24 Weather Specialist Jess Smith says.
Toronto will see a high of 37 C today, feeling closer to 45 with the humidity. The hottest July 14 on record was back in 1995, when the mercury rose to 36.8 C.
“We are going to see sun but it is going to be quite hazy,” Smith said on Tuesday morning, noting that wildfire smoke in the upper atmosphere is causing a significant amount of smog in the city today.

Toronto remains under a heat warning, yellow alert amid the sweltering temperatures that began on Monday.
The heat wave rolling across the province will hit its peak today. In Toronto, the temperature will dip down to the low 30s on Wednesday, dropping even further by the end of the work week and weekend.
The national weather agency says Toronto will see a high of 31 C on Thursday, and 28 C on both Friday and Saturday, with a chance of rain on both days.
